Why Haven’t You Started Yet?

Info OverloadYou have a hard drive full of eBooks promising an easy way to earn a living online. Just follow a few simple steps and in no time your full-time J.O.B. will be a thing of the past. But, a year has gone by, your wallet is lighter and all you have to show for your time and money is a bad case of information overload.

You’re probably pretty frustrated by now and maybe even a little angry. But, don’t feel too badly about your situation. You’re not alone. There are plenty of other beginning marketers in the same spot you’re in. So let’s review some of the reasons why you haven’t been able to get your online business going and see if I can help get you pointed in the right direction.

Does this sound familiar? You’ve bought and read a bunch of ebooks, joined several marketing forums, signed up for membership sites and you’re no further ahead than when you started. Why? Those methods you’ve read and learned about work! Still, something keeps you running from one marketing method to the next in search of the one idea that will finally make you a fortune.

Well, there’s one problem right there. Nearly every one of those methods you’ve read about in an ebook or on a forum work. But none of them are the “quick fix” or the “fast buck” idea that you’re looking for. In fact, they don’t exist. For starters, this is a business and must be treated as one.

The second thing you should understand is that, like any business, it takes work to succeed. Everything you’ve read up to now is most likely a single method out of hundreds that you can apply to your business. You need to understand how to use several of those ideas together in order to start building a real business.

Next, understand that no matter how much time you have to invest in your business, it won’t happen overnight. Sure, some have been lucky to do that but their success is usually short-lived and the work must be repeated over an over. Once you get into a situation like that, you’ve just created yourself another J.O.B.

You will often hear that the only real road to success is to take action. In fact, you are told you need to take “massive” action. Although I agree that you have to take action in order to accomplish anything at all, there’s still one reason why you probably haven’t been able to get started.

But first, I’ve taken the information outlined in a report I recently purchased and stripped it down to the individual steps the author says you should take. Does this sound familiar?

  1. Choose and buy a domain name and set up a cheap hosting where you can build your web site.
  2. Build your main web site using your favorite site building program.
  3. Do keyword research for each product you will sell.
  4. Create content to publish on your site in the form of written reviews and screen capture videos.
  5. Publish the content on your site.
  6. Publish the videos on YouTube.
  7. Re-write your content into 2-4 different versions and publish them to content sharing sites.
  8. Create summaries of your content, create a blog, and publish them on your blog.
  9. Use Social Bookmarking sites to bookmark every page of content you published.
  10. Ping everything!

Pretty simple, right? And guess what? This method does actually work. However, if you’re just learning about Internet Marketing and just trying to get started, there’s quite a bit missing from the steps listed above. And those are the things that are preventing you from even getting started in the first place.

The first step says to choose and buy a domain name a set up a hosting account. Do you know how or where to do that? Probably not if you’re just getting started in this business. It can make a big difference in your business where you buy your domain names from and which hosting company you choose to host your web sites. As with most everything else, cheap usually isn’t what you should be looking for.

Next you’re told to build a web site with your favorite site building program. Do you have one? Probably not. And even if you do, do you know how to build a web site or even what kind of web site to build? It would also help if you knew a little bit about writing and editing html code.

So, continuing down the list we go. Create content, create a video, create a blog, bookmark your content pages, and Ping everything! Do you know how to do that? Do you have all the tools you need to do each of those steps? I’m guessing you probably don’t. And don’t ask me for the report I bought because it doesn’t tell you how to do them either!

Not to worry though. That’s what I’m here for and what this site is all about. I’ll be adding how-to articles and videos so you can learn each of the “missing” steps you need to know. Then, you can use all of that information you’ve been storing on your hard drive to finally get started building your online business!
