ebay Drops Commission Junction
Ebay has announced that they were leaving Commission Junction and would manage their affiliate program in-house. News of the change was delivered to all affiliates via email and quickly became the talk of affiliate forums everywhere.
As of today (3/17/08) ebay announced that no new affiliates would be allowed to join the program through Commission Junction. All current and new affiliates will be required to register with ebay beginning April 1, 2008. Affiliates will have one month to change their affiliate links as ebay and Commission Junction run parallel programs.
Build A Niche Stores (BANS), assured users of their ebay site creator program that the change would have little affect on users. Kelvin and Adam indicated that they have been working with ebay affiliate managers the past few weeks on the details to ensure BANS will work properly with the ebay data feeds and affiliate’s new id’s to be issued under the new program. BANS was under a non-disclosure agreement until ebay made the new public before they were allowed to comment and reassure the large community of users.
